Africa is preparing for one of its biggest leather industry events as Lusaka gets ready to host the Africa Leather Value Chain Forum 2025 from 26 – 28 November 2025. The annual gathering is run by the Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute which works under COMESA.
The Forum is expected to bring in more than 200 participants from governments, regional blocs, major financial bodies, private companies and small businesses.
The goal is simple but urgent. Africa wants to strengthen its leather sector so it can compete better under the AfCFTA.
This year the focus is on building a leather industry that is sustainable inclusive and competitive. The event will include high level panels on industrial growth, finance, market access and policy coordination across Africa.
Organisers say the B2B and B2F deal rooms will host over 150 matchmaking sessions that link SMEs with buyers and financiers.
A large continental exhibition will showcase the skills of over 50 enterprises from 15 countries. There will also be an open bazaar where buyers and embassies can purchase leather goods directly from African makers.
Young talent will also take the spotlight through the Real Leather. Stay Different. Africa Awards which will celebrate 15 rising designers shaping the future of African leather fashion.
The Forum will end with the release of ALLPI’s 2026 – 2030 strategy along with a new brand identity that signals a fresh chapter for the industry.
In simple terms Africa is trying to move from being a raw material supplier to becoming a strong global player in finished leather goods. The Forum aims to speed up that shift by bringing the entire value chain into one room.
