Happy introducing myself as an “Ekalavya of the Leather Industry,” I am a dedicated and passionate leather professional who has spent a lifetime acquiring knowledge by closely observing and learning from the industry’s finest. With more than 42 years of experience.

 

My journey in leather began humbly in a Pallavaram tannery in Chennai, where with a background in Commerce, I grew into a multifaceted expert in the leather and leather products industry.

 

Over the years, I have had the rare opportunity to work in various roles, from sourcing raw hides and skins to production, operations, and marketing. With more than 25 years as a freelance operator (sourcing specialist, buyer representative, value addition expert and operated all over India) 2 years with Tangerine and 14 years with Tejoomals, the largest exporter of footwear (1 million Sq ft tannery, leather garments & goods, cotton bags, Men’s Shoes & Uppers from the South of India) during its peak, I have gained hands-on experience in every aspect of leather production. 

From raw material sourcing and tanning to finishing and leather goods manufacturing, my expertise spans the entire leather value chain. My journey has been enriched by the guidance of leather industry professionals, whom I consider my friends and mentors. I have defined my own path by combining their style of working and guidance, with my personal experiences in the field. 

 

This journey has taken me around the world, working closely with brands like Deichmann, Zara, H&M, Ralph Lauren, and many others, helping them source the finest leather and leather products.

 

Presently, I am Involved as a Business Development Manager at Alina/A.V. Thomas for more than a year and Continue to offer my service to the Industry with weekly meetings and contributing to Magazines like Indian Leather, which motivates everyone in the Industry and in particular the younger generation and guides them. My work spans Across India and internationally, with a focus on sustainable and eco-friendly leather production. 

 

I am deeply involved in creating innovative leather products, such as the “Sundance” Collection, which changes color in the sun, and translucent leather for shoes and goods. Heading the team for a challenging project of making Buffalo Grain and Splits as (FOC – Free of Chrome Leathers) suited for Belts in high and low thickness successfully.
