Why Leathernews.org Was Created
Leathernews.org was founded in March 2024 by Arshad Khan, an engineer specialising in Leather Technology from Anna University’s Department of Leather Technology, housed at CSIR – Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), India.
During his engineering years, Arshad experienced first-hand how difficult it was to access reliable, up-to-date information about the global leather industry. Most industry news was fragmented, limited, or locked behind paywalls making it inaccessible to many professionals who needed it most.
Leathernews.org was created to remove that barrier and provide free, clear and reliable access to global leather industry information for everyone working within the sector.
Our Growth
Since its launch, Leathernews.org has grown into a trusted industry platform with readers from 100+ countries across the global leather value chain.

Leathernews.org started out of frustration. While doing my engineering in Leather Technology I kept looking for reliable news & updates about the global leather industry & kept running into the same problem: there were only a few platforms & most of the information was locked behind paywalls, which I could not afford back then.
I kept asking myself why people involved in this industry should have to struggle to find easy access to what’s happening around them. That thought stayed with me & although I couldn’t do much back then in March 2024 I turned it into action by launching Leathernews.org to make global leather news clear & accessible for everyone completely for FREE.
Since our launch, LeatherNews.org has quickly grown into a trusted platform with leather industry professionals, entrepreneurs & enthusiasts from more than 120 countries. We have reached over 2.5 million+ views across 120+ countries (as of 25 November 2025) with a growing readership of industry professionals worldwide.
Our free weekly roundup newsletter has a subscriber base of 4,000+ professionals who get the entire week’s global leather industry news every Sunday at 11 am directly to their inbox.
