Bangladesh kicked off the 2025–26 financial year with a strong performance in exports. The country earned $4.77 billion in July 2025, marking a 24.9% rise compared to the same month last year.
This impressive growth follows a tough July in 2024, when internet blackouts and political unrest severely disrupted production and shipping. Many factories were forced to shut down for several days, leading to fewer exports at the time.
Exporters also rushed shipments in July 2025 to beat a US tariff deadline. The Trump administration had announced a 35% tariff on Bangladeshi products, effective July 8, but gave a grace period until July 31 to send goods at the old rate. This added urgency helped drive up the export numbers.
In July 2025, the Leather and leather goods sector alone brought in $127.38 million in exports
Bangladesh closed the previous financial year (FY25) with exports worth $48.28 billion, up 8.55% from $44.47 billion in FY24.
