Bangladesh Leather Industry Promotion Seminar Drives Leather and Footwear Export Talks in Seoul

Bangladesh has made a clear move to capture the South Korean leather market with a focused business seminar held in Seoul on 24 February 2026.

The event titled Bangladesh Your New High Value Partner of Quality Leather Goods and Footwear was organized by the Embassy of the of Bangladesh in Seoul at The Shilla Seoul.

Around 30 leading South Korean companies joined the programme showing strong interest in sourcing from Bangladesh.

The seven member business delegation was led by Syed Nasim Manzur, President, Leather Goods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB).

Top manufacturers including Apex Footwear Limited, Fortune Group, Piccard Bangladesh Ltd., Bay Leather Goods Limited and Craftsman Footwear and Accessories were part of the mission.

According to local media sources, Kwon Ki chang Executive Vice President of Korea Importers Association said Bangladeshi leather goods have strong potential in Korea especially among fashion conscious youth who are driving demand for premium products.

Bangladesh Ambassador Toufiq Islam Shatil said trade ties between the two countries have been growing steadily.

“The leather and footwear sector is a major bridge in our trade relations and this engagement will help expand Bangladesh’s footprint in South Korea.”

In the technical session Syed Nasim Manzur presented Bangladesh’s production capacity export performance compliance improvements, competitive pricing and the advantage of its young workforce. He stressed that Bangladesh is moving from volume driven manufacturing to high value quality led production.

The seminar ended with B2B matchmaking meetings where Bangladeshi exporters directly engaged with Korean businesses to explore sourcing and joint ventures.

With Europe and North America remaining key markets Bangladesh is now actively diversifying exports towards East Asia. The Seoul outreach reflects a broader strategy to position Bangladeshi leather and footwear in premium stable markets and build long term partnerships with Korean buyers.
