Brazil Leather Exports Reach $96.2 Million in December 2025 Down 0.7% from November

According to data from SECEX analyzed by CICB, Brazilian leather exports in December 2025 reached $96.2 million. This was 6.4% higher than the same month last year. It was slightly lower than November with a drop of 0.7%.

Shipment volumes showed stronger momentum. Brazil exported 16.9 million square meters and 64.3 thousand tons in December. Area grew by 8.5% and weight too jumped by 28.6% compared to December 2024.

When compared to November there was a fall of 5.2% in area. At the same time exported weight increased by 5.3%.

For the full year from January to December 2025, Brazil’s leather exports totaled $1.13 billion. This was 9.8% lower than 2024. Exported area declined by 2.9%. Exported weight increased by 7.1%.

China remained the top destination in 2025. Its share rose to 30.5% in value and stayed at 44.2% in area. Despite this exports to China fell by 14.2% in value and 1.1% in area.

The United States ranked second. It held 12.6% share in value and 6.5% in area. Exports dropped by 14.4% in value and 4.1% in area. Higher tariffs hurt demand.

Italy stood third with 10.8% share in value and 12.2% in area. Shipments declined by 14.3% in value and 7.2% in area. December showed some recovery to Italy in both value and volume.

Among other markets Spain South Korea and Mexico posted gains. Spain saw strong growth of 69.0% in value and 73.6% in area.

South Korea recorded a 67.7% rise in value and 76.4% growth in area. Mexico posted a modest 3.0% increase in value. Nigeria showed sharp growth linked to salted hides shipments.

Wet blue leather shipments in December 2025 were valued at $26.6 million

Split wet blue exports reached $12.5 million in December 2025

Crust leather exports stood at $9.7 million in December 2025

Finally finished leather exports amounted to $38.3 million in December 2025.
