Crocodile farming has been introduced in Jacobabad, one of Sindh’s districts in Pakistan, with the goal of boosting the leather industry and enhancing tourism. This unique initiative at Bhambhore Farmhouse is not only aimed at producing quality leather but also serves as a new attraction for visitors in the region.
A local landowner has taken the bold step to start crocodile farming in an area known for its extreme temperatures. The farm is designed to mimic the natural environment of these reptiles, with swamps and ponds that help them thrive.
This is an ambitious project that has been in the works for several years, as it took five years for the crocodiles to reach maturity. The mature crocodiles now measure up to 21 feet in length and weigh nearly one ton.
Crocodile skins are highly valuable in the luxury leather market. They are used to make a wide range of high-end products, from handbags and shoes to belts and wallets. The farm owner is dedicated to following international standards to ensure the highest quality of leather.
The farm has already imported at least 10 crocodiles, and the owner is optimistic that their population will grow rapidly once the reptiles begin laying eggs. This could lead to an increase in the number of crocodiles.
