The global leather industry welcomes a new chapter as Dr. Luis Zugno assumes the role of Chair for the Leather Naturally Management Board, succeeding Debbie Burton, who completed her six-year tenure.
Dr. Zugno’s journey with Leather Naturally began in 2020 when he was elected to the Management Board.
Dr. Zugno brings extensive expertise to his new role. Currently serving as the Global Innovation Manager at Buckman International, he is also the Executive Secretary of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS) and a former IULTCS President. With a PhD in tanning research and over 30 years of experience in the leather sector, Dr. Zugno is well-equipped to lead the organization forward.
Outgoing Chair Debbie Burton, who also serves as the Director of Communications at the Leather Working Group. Reflecting on her tenure, she highlighted the collective efforts of Leather Naturally and the Leather Working Group to update the representation of bovine leather in the Higg Material Sustainability Index (Higg MSI).
