Leather supplier MAASLEDER from Waalwijk has acquired Van Oosterum Leder in the Netherlands, ensuring the future of the Raamsdonksveer family business. Evert van Oosterum will continue as General Manager while the Van Oosterum Leder brand and identity remain intact.
MAASLEDER is approaching its 100th anniversary in September 2026 and is a leading international leather supplier with a strong focus on footwear.
The company represents top Italian tanneries and offers a wide range of upper and lining leathers. Gerard Maas is passing the business to his son Jurgen, the fourth generation in the family, who has been involved for six years.
With no family successor, Evert van Oosterum decided to transfer Van Oosterum Leder to MAASLEDER.
“Van Oosterum Leder was founded in 1929 by my grandfather Jan. MAASLEDER shares the same DNA and commitment to quality and service. I am proud they are keeping the Van Oosterum Leder brand name. This collaboration ensures continuity of our products and service.”
– Evert van Oosterum
Van Oosterum Leder will move to MAASLEDER’s Waalwijk premises, which will undergo renovation and expansion.
“Thanks to the synergy between two strong companies with excellent reputations and expertise, we can invest in innovation together and offer customers a more complete product range. Evert van Oosterum’s involvement guarantees continuity and brings valuable experience. Together we combine nearly 200 years of craftsmanship and look ahead with confidence.”
– Jurgen Maas
The companies will present their collaboration for the first time on 24 and 25 October at the Orthopädie Schuh Technik trade fair in Cologne.
The acquisition marks a new chapter for both companies, strengthening their position in the international leather market while ensuring continuity for employees and customers.
