Egypt’s Ministry of Industry has announced the start of the second investment phase at Robbiki Leather City, inviting applications from local and international leather goods manufacturers for 36 ready-to-use industrial units.
According to a statement shared with reporters on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, interested investors must apply through the Digital Industrial Platform (www.madein.eg) before the deadline of July 27, 2025.
The ministry noted that the new phase offers “exceptional facilitations” aimed at making entry easier for manufacturers. This includes flexible payment options under both the Instalment Sale and Operational Rent systems.
Under the Instalment Sale model, foreign investors can benefit from a six-year payment plan at a five percent interest rate, with the first year as a grace period.
For those choosing the Operational Rent option, only three months’ rent is required upfront, followed by another three-month grace period before regular payments begin.
The 36 available units include six factories measuring 2,000 square meters, ten factories at 1,000 square meters, and twenty workshops sized at 121 square meters.
Applicants are also allowed to request multiple units within a single application, depending on their business needs.
This second phase is part of Egypt’s larger goal to become a key regional hub for leather manufacturing and to boost its export capabilities.
Robbiki Leather City, located in Badr City just outside Cairo, has been developed with modern infrastructure, environmentally friendly waste treatment facilities, and excellent connectivity.
The site lies only 50 kilometers from Cairo International Airport and about 100 kilometers from Suez Port, making it ideal for international shipping and logistics.
The ministry emphasized that the first phase of the project saw great success and that this new offering builds on that momentum. Officials see Robbiki as a centerpiece of the country’s industrial strategy, particularly in attracting high-value manufacturing and global fashion brands.
To further assist investors, the government is working with the Export Development Bank of Egypt (E-bank), which will finance up to 90% of unit costs under a ten-year repayment scheme. The bank is also offering loans for machinery, working capital, and technical support.
In addition, exporters setting up in Robbiki will gain access to E-bank’s Exporters Club, which provides tailored services designed to help businesses expand into global markets.
The ministry added that investors will receive assistance with licensing and technical support through the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), ensuring smoother setup and operation within the zone.
Robbiki Leather City is being promoted as a fully integrated, environmentally compliant industrial hub that can support the needs of modern leather goods manufacturing.
