The Embassy of India in Romania with the support of Council for Leather Exports (CLE) organized a hybrid B2B interaction on leather and footwear on 27 March 2026 at the Embassy premises in Bucharest. The event brought together Indian exporters and Romanian companies to explore trade and investment opportunities.
Ambassador Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra opened the session and highlighted the strength of India’s leather and footwear industry. He said the sector is a key part of India’s manufacturing and export system.
He explained that India is one of the largest producers and exporters of leather and leather products. The country offers everything from raw materials to finished goods.
He also pointed to India’s strong ecosystem with skilled artisans, modern design and strict global quality and sustainability standards.
The Ambassador said Indian manufacturers are focusing more on innovation, value addition and customization to match global demand. He added that India offers cost efficiency, reliability and the ability to serve both bulk and niche markets.
He stressed that India and Romania have strong potential to increase trade, build supply chains and form long-term partnerships through such B2B meetings.
Ramesh Juneja, Chairman of the Council for Leather Exports, shared an overview of India’s leather sector and its export strength. He also explained the Council’s role in helping companies access global markets.
Indian companies like Superhouse Limited, Alpine Apparels, J.C. International, Mirza International, Bharat Enterprises, Apollo Fashion International, Dawar Footwear Industries, Alina Pvt. Ltd. and Creemos International presented their products and capabilities.
Romanian companies also introduced themselves, followed by a Q&A session that helped both sides connect and discuss business opportunities.
The event ended with a vote of thanks and a focus on strengthening India-Romania trade ties in leather and footwear.
