Leather Naturally has released its 2024 Annual Report highlighting a year of growth, collaboration and stronger consumer awareness around leather as a sustainable material.
In 2024, Leather Naturally recorded a rise in membership, growing from 166 to 172 members. The community now includes 128 industry members and 44 associate members.
Digital outreach made a strong impact with paid awareness campaigns generating close to 600,000 views. Social media followers also grew by 11% showing that interest in accurate and engaging information about leather is increasing worldwide.
The organisation continued its engagement efforts with members at the annual breakfast event during APLF. This gathering provided an important opportunity for industry leaders to meet in person and strengthen collaboration across the supply chain.
Leather Naturally also launched the Guide to Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for the leather industry. This guide is designed to help stakeholders understand best practices when conducting LCAs.
Another key milestone came from a joint submission with the Leather Working Group and SPIN 360 to the Higg Materials Sustainability Index.
Together they provided a dataset for bovine leather that could become the new industry average offering a science-based approach to understanding leather’s environmental footprint.
