Leather Working Group Launches Independent Certification Body LWG Assurance

The Leather Working Group (LWG) has launched a new not-for-profit organisation to handle certification independently. It’s called LWG Assurance Services.

This move separates the certification process from the main Leather Working Group operations. The goal is to ensure that assessments are more neutral and trustworthy.

The new body will be led by Managing Director Jon Loxston, former CTO, Pittards plc. It will have its own team and management system. LWG Assurance Services is designed to follow international standards and can now be accredited under ISO 17065.

LWG says this change will bring big benefits for the leather industry. It will improve the trust level among brands, suppliers, and consumers. The core mission of the Leather Working Group stays the same, but the way they ensure quality is now even more independent.
