Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur. The agreement was signed in the presence of Prof. Samsher, Vice Chancellor of HBTU Kanpur.

This collaboration aims to strengthen skill development in the leather and footwear industry. Both sides have agreed to work together on developing advanced training modules and creating research-driven innovations.

The goal is to prepare students with industry-ready skills while also encouraging new ideas that support sustainability.

Officials said the partnership is a bridge between academia and industry. By bringing together technical education and real-world business needs, the initiative hopes to shape a generation of professionals who can drive the industry forward with fresh thinking and sustainable practices.

Going forward, LSSC and HBTU will focus on joint programs that boost industry upskilling, promote innovation and reinforce India’s role as a global hub for leather and footwear manufacturing.
