Pleach India Foundation together with the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) will hold a three-day national seminar and exhibition on India’s footwear heritage from November 28 to 30 at the FDDI campus in Hyderabad.
The event will shine a light on India’s rich footwear traditions through discussions, a curated exhibition and hands-on experiences.
A key attraction will be the Make Your Own Chappal workshop where participants can try traditional craftsmanship for themselves.
Evening cultural programs will celebrate Indian heritage and give visitors a chance to experience its diversity.
Organisers say this initiative is designed to give students, designers, researchers and heritage lovers a space to engage with tradition and see how it connects to modern design.
To formalise the collaboration a memorandum of understanding was signed and exchanged between NT Lohit Reddy executive director of FDDI and Tejaswini Yarlagadda chairperson of Pleach India Foundation on Thursday.
E Sivanagi Reddy CEO Pleach India Foundation Sanathana Y S director Research & Projects and Abdul Rehman head of department FDDI Hyderabad were also present at the event.
