PrimeAsia Releases 2024 Sustainability Report With Major Progress Across Climate and Social Goals

PrimeAsia, one of the world’s largest leather manufacturers, has published its 2024 Sustainability Report. The company says this year was all about laying a strong foundation for a greener, more socially responsible future under its new Consciously Crafted strategy.

The release of this report also lines up with a fresh rebranding effort. PrimeAsia says it’s entering a new era focused on helping partners move faster, smarter, and more sustainably.

Headquartered across China and Vietnam with a logistics hub in Indonesia, PrimeAsia produces over 12.5 million square feet of leather every month for footwear and leather goods brands globally.

“Sustainability is a journey that requires vision, accountability, and collaboration. We are committed to driving innovation, reducing our environmental footprint, and creating shared value for people and planet.”

Jonathan Clark
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), PrimeAsia Leather

In 2024, the company made solid progress under four key sustainability pillars: Operational Excellence, Circularity, Climate Action, and Social Impact.

Key 2024 Sustainability Highlights

1] Renewable Energy Push

43% of the company’s total energy used in 2024 came from renewable sources.

In China, 20% of their energy now comes from green power via a purchase agreement. In Vietnam, solar panels have been installed on rooftops to boost in-house clean energy generation.

2] Better Waste & Data Systems

PrimeAsia invested in better data tools to track waste and materials, making it easier to divert more waste towards recycling. They also improved internal systems for traceability and automation.

3] Community Engagement:

Across their global offices and tanneries, staff volunteered over 3,200 hours. Activities included beach cleanups, mountain cleanup drives, elder care, child support, and tree planting.

4] Cross-Country Collaboration

Two joint meetings were held between the sustainability teams in Vietnam and China to share progress, align strategies, and address shared challenges.
