Renault to End Use of Leather in All Cars by 2025

French carmaker Renault has announced it will completely stop using leather in all its vehicles by the end of 2025. The decision follows discussions with PETA France and comes amid a rising global demand for cruelty-free and eco-friendly car interiors.

According to PETA’s Vegan Car Interior Survey, more and more consumers are asking for cars that do not use animal-derived materials.

Renault’s new models the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, Symbioz, and Rafale now feature seats made with recycled materials. Renault says these materials help reduce plastic waste and move away from animal-based products.

PETA is now encouraging other carmakers to follow Renault’s example and move towards non leather seats.
