In a significant boost to Tamil Nadu’s industrial landscape, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited to establish non-leather footwear manufacturing units in Karur and Perambalur districts. The project, backed by an investment of ₹5,000 crore, is set to generate employment for over 50,000 people.
The MoU, signed between the Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau and Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited, a subsidiary of the Phoenix Kothari Group, was formalized in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the Secretariat in Chennai on February 26, 2025.
The decision to establish these manufacturing units in Karur and Perambalur, traditionally categorized as industrially backward districts, is expected to be a game-changer for the local economy.
The initiative aims to create thousands of job opportunities, particularly benefiting the youth and women in these districts and neighboring areas.
According to an official statement, these industries will significantly contribute to raising income levels and drive economic development in the region.
The Tamil Nadu government has been actively working to decentralize industrial growth, ensuring that investments reach areas beyond metropolitan hubs like Chennai and Coimbatore.
Adidas shoes will soon be proudly manufactured in Karur, Tamil Nadu.
