Tandy Leather Appoints Johan Hedberg as New CEO and Welcomes New Board Member

Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. has announced a significant leadership change, appointing Johan Hedberg as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 6.

Hedberg, who will also join the Company’s Board of Directors, takes over from Janet Carr, who has served as CEO for the past six years. Carr will remain with the company through March 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.

Hedberg brings over 30 years of leadership experience in both wholesale and retail sectors. His most recent role was as the Chief Sales Officer and President of the Americas for Fiskars Group, where he also served as the Global Chief Sales Officer.

Before his time at Fiskars, Hedberg held the position of VP of Sales and Marketing at Thule Group, further solidifying his extensive experience in sales and leadership.

In his new role, Hedberg aims to steer Tandy Leather through a period of transformation and growth. The company, known for its specialty leather and leather-crafting products, is set to build on its 100-year history.

Janet Carr has received high praise for her contributions during her tenure as CEO. Under her leadership, Tandy Leather improved product quality and expanded its customer base, overcoming significant challenges, particularly during the Covid crisis.

As part of the leadership changes, Tandy Leather also announced the appointment of John (Rocky) Sullivan to its Board of Directors, effective January 6. Sullivan, an Investment Advisor Representative and Investment Analyst with JCP Investment Management, brings a wealth of experience to the table.

Sullivan is also the owner of Sullivan Companies, a firm involved in investment management, real estate development, and agriculture. With Sullivan’s addition, current directors James Pappas and Janet Carr will step down from the Board.
