Uzbekistan Strengthens Leather & Footwear Industry Ties With China

A major trade, economic & investment forum took place in China bringing Uzbekistan & China closer in their partnership. The Uzbek government delegation was actively represented by its Leather Association Uzcharmsanoat.

Akbar Sultanov, Chairman of the Association, spoke about the production, investment & export potential of Uzbekistan’s leather & footwear industry.

He explained how the industry has gone through deep modernization in recent years. New production facilities now meet international standards. Millions of pairs of shoes & hundreds of millions of leather are produced every year.

Uzbekistan’s exports are growing fast. Products are reaching not only neighboring countries but also Europe, Türkiye, China & Southeast Asia.

The presentation also outlined the benefits of small industrial zones created for foreign investors.

These zones offer ready infrastructure, tax & customs incentives, fast registration, land allocation & strong government support. Such measures open the door for joint projects & quick production launches.

After the forum, both sides discussed expanding cooperation in the leather & footwear sector. Chinese companies praised Uzbekistan’s production clusters, strong raw material base & growing export opportunities.

The role of Uzcharmsanoat in the forum was seen as crucial for promoting joint investments, introducing modern technology & building stronger trade links.
