French footwear export numbers have taken a hit in this year’s first 9 months from January to September 2025 and the latest figures show a clear slowdown.
Fresh data from the French Leather Industry Association Alliance France Cuir reveals that total footwear exports which includes both regular footwear and slippers have dropped from €4.06 billion euros in the first 9 months of 2024 to €3.95 billion euros in 2025 which is a 3% fall.
Exports of regular footwear excluding slippers also slipped from €4.03 billion euros in the first 9 months of 2024 to €3.93 billion euros in 2025 marking another 3% decline.
The sharper drop came from slippers category where exports fell from €31.1 million euros in 2024 to €25.3 million euros in 2025 which is a steep 19% slide.
These numbers point to cooling demand in global markets at a time when brands are already struggling with slower consumer spending.
