French leather goods sector has hit a rough patch in the first 9 months of 2025 with export figures showing a clear slowdown across all major product lines.
Fresh data from the French Leather Industry Association Alliance France Cuir reveals that total leather goods exports which includes handbags, small leather goods and watch straps reached €9.18 billion euros in exports during the first nine months of 2025.
This is a 3% drop from the €9.5 billion euros recorded in the same period last year.
Handbags the biggest revenue driver fell from €6.85 billion euros in 2024 to €6.5 billion euros in 2025 marking a 5% decline.
Small leather goods reported the sharpest fall sliding 11% to €785 million euros compared with €880 million euros last year.
Watch straps also dipped slightly from €109.7 million euros to €105.7 million euros down 4%.
