Agilitas Sports to Double Mochiko’s Shoe Production with $40-50 Mn Investment Targeting $125 Mn in FY25

Former Puma India Managing Director Abhishek Ganguly, now at the helm of Agilitas Sports, is gearing up for a major expansion of his B2B sports footwear manufacturer Mochiko.

Ganguly acquired Mochiko last year, adding it to his athleisure startup, Agilitas Sports. In a bold move to capitalize on the growing demand for sports footwear, Ganguly revealed that Mochiko is set to double its production capacity over the next three to four years.

Ganguly announced that Mochiko is constructing a large facility in Noida, expected to become operational within the next two months.

Additionally, the company is planning to open another production unit in South India within the next six to eight months, further solidifying its production capabilities.

“Currently, Mochiko has an annual production capacity of 12 Million pairs and employs 10,000 workers. Our goal is to double this capacity in the next three to four years,”

To support this massive expansion, Rs 300-400 crore will be invested in the development of these new production facilities.

Ganguly emphasized the importance of investing in automation and technical advancements to streamline Mochiko’s manufacturing processes.

“We are not only scaling up our production but also making our processes more efficient. By enhancing our technical capabilities and integrating automation, we aim to meet the growing demand for sports footwear and capitalize on the shift of manufacturing to India,”

Since its inception in 2008, Mochiko has been a key manufacturer for several global brands, including Adidas, Puma, New Balance, Skechers, Reebok, Asics, Crocs, Decathlon, Clarks, and US Polo.

In a recent development, the company also secured a license to manufacture shoes for the Italian brand Lotto, expanding its portfolio even further.

This broad client base has positioned Mochiko as a major player in the global footwear industry, especially as international brands look to shift their production to India, leveraging the country’s skilled labor and competitive manufacturing costs.

In the financial year 2023 (FY23), Mochiko reported revenue of Rs 640 crore, and Ganguly shared that the company has closed FY24 with revenue in the range of Rs 730-740 crore.

With the expansion plan in full swing, Mochiko is on track to become a Rs 1,000 crore company by FY25.

In conclusion, Abhishek Ganguly’s strategic vision for Mochiko reflects his confidence in the future of sports footwear manufacturing in India. With significant investments, new production facilities, and a focus on efficiency, Mochiko is well-positioned to meet the growing demand from global brands. The company’s journey toward becoming a Rs 1,000 crore entity demonstrates the rising prominence of India as a global manufacturing hub for the footwear industry.
