India-Japan Leather Trade Takes Center Stage at Fashion World Expo Tokyo

In a significant move to boost the leather and footwear trade between India and Japan, the Council of Leather Exports (CLE), in association with the Embassy of India in Japan, organized a successful roadshow at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo.

The event, titled “Source from India (Footwear and Leather),” aimed to showcase India’s vast potential in the global leather market, attracting attention from Japanese buyers and industry professionals.

The event was graced by Shri R. Madhusudan, IFS, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Japan, who took the lead in inaugurating the Indian Pavilion at Fashion World Tokyo Fair.

During his address, he highlighted the growing significance of India as a sourcing hub for leather and footwear products.

The fair provided a platform for Indian businesses to exhibit their world-class products and explore new opportunities in the competitive Japanese market.

Shri Madhusudan interacted with the delegation of Indian leather exporters and business delegates who were in attendance.

Shri R. Selvam, Executive Director of the Council of Leather Exports (CLE), delivered a comprehensive presentation, highlighting the vast investment opportunities in India’s leather and footwear sector.

Later in the day, Shri Selvam met with His Excellency Shri Sibi George, Ambassador of India to Japan, along with Shri R. Madhusudan at the Indian Embassy.

The discussions centered on further enhancing trade ties between India and Japan, particularly in the leather and footwear sectors.

With both nations committed to strengthening bilateral trade, these discussions laid the groundwork for future collaborations and agreements that will mutually benefit the two economies.

The roadshow and subsequent events at Fashion World Expo Tokyo reinforced India’s commitment to expanding its leather exports to Japan and the broader global market. Through initiatives like these, India aims to capitalize on its rich leather craftsmanship while forming stronger trade alliances with countries like Japan.
