The Turkish leather and leather goods company, Birlik Deri, has officially joined the ranks of Azerbaijan’s Aghdam Industrial Park as a recognized resident.
The park, a part of Azerbaijan’s ambitious economic revitalization in the Karabakh region, is managed by the Agency for Development of Economic Zones and has gained momentum as a hub for diverse industries and job creation.
Birlik Deri’s commitment to the park involves a significant investment of AZN 20.8 million (USD 11.7 million). This funding will go toward establishing a modern leather and leather goods manufacturing facility within the park, creating substantial growth potential for both domestic production and export capabilities.
According to the Agency for Development of Economic Zones, the new facility is projected to generate over 250 local jobs, providing much needed employment in the area.
The inclusion of Birlik Deri brings the number of resident companies in Aghdam Industrial Park to 28, with an additional four non-resident firms also operating within its infrastructure.
Altogether, the park’s current and incoming businesses are expected to offer employment opportunities for up to 2,300 people. The total investment committed to the park now stands at AZN 260 million (USD 152.9 million).
So far, the industrial park has already attracted AZN 92 million (USD 54 million) in investments, which has led to the creation of over 370 jobs.
In line with Azerbaijan’s mission to support regional employment, the State Employment Agency has been actively involved in workforce placement, facilitating employment for approximately 100 individuals mainly former internally displaced persons (IDPs) to help integrate them into the region’s economic ecosystem.
During a recent media tour organized by the State Employment Agency, participants received an in depth briefing on the impact of the Aghdam Industrial Park on the economic development of the Karabakh region.
The park boasts state-of-the-art facilities equipped with high tech machinery sourced from Italy, Türkiye, and South Korea, reflecting a commitment to quality and efficiency.
