Kering appoints new CEOs at Saint Laurent and Balenciaga

Kering has announced major leadership changes within its iconic luxury brands, Saint Laurent and Balenciaga, effective January 2, 2025. Cédric Charbit will take over as CEO of Saint Laurent, while Gianfranco Gianangeli will assume the role of CEO at Balenciaga.

Both leaders will report to Francesca Bellettini, Kering’s Deputy CEO in charge of Brand Development, who will focus entirely on growing Kering’s Fashion, Leather Goods, and Jewelry divisions.

“These changes reinforce our leadership structure, ensuring that our teams are equipped to meet current challenges and achieve sustainable growth.”

François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of Kering

Cédric Charbit has been a key figure in Kering since joining in 2012 as Product Strategy Director at Saint Laurent.

With a wealth of experience in the luxury sector, he was named CEO of Balenciaga in 2016, where he significantly expanded the brand’s global presence and revived its Haute Couture line.

Beginning his career at Printemps, Charbit later held roles at Pucci and joined Saint Laurent in 2012.

In his new role at Saint Laurent, Charbit will focus on leveraging the brand’s unique heritage, Parisian identity, and strong market positioning.

Gianfranco Gianangeli brings extensive expertise in luxury merchandising, retail, and management. Previously CEO of Maison Margiela and most recently Chief Commercial Officer at Saint Laurent, Gianangeli has built a reputation for driving strategic growth and market expansion.

With a career spanning Bottega Veneta, Prada, and Givenchy, Gianangeli’s leadership at Maison Margiela showcased his ability to revitalize brands.

At Balenciaga, Gianangeli will succeed Cédric Charbit, tasked with strengthening the House’s global influence and steering its creative and commercial vision.

“Cédric’s deep understanding of Saint Laurent’s identity makes him perfectly suited to lead the brand into its next phase of growth. Gianfranco’s expertise and vision ensure he will excel in taking Balenciaga to new heights.”
