Budget 2025 Introduces Focus Product Scheme to Boost India’s Leather and Footwear Industry

In a major announcement during the Budget 2025 on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman revealed new policy measures to enhance India’s leather and footwear industry.

These measures focus on design innovation, component manufacturing, and modernizing production machinery to improve efficiency and quality.

The government’s Focus Product Scheme will not only support leather and footwear manufacturing but also create 2.2 million jobs.

The reforms are projected to generate over ₹4 lakh crore (approximately $46.12 billion USD) in revenue and ₹1.11 lakh crore (about $13 billion USD) in exports.

These initiatives position India to become a global leader in the leather and footwear sector, boosting employment and revenue while increasing the country’s export potential.
