The leather and leather goods industry continues to show strong growth, with export earnings increasing by 11% in the first eight months (July-February) of the current fiscal year (FY25) compared to the same period last year.
According to the latest data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the leather sector earned $88.47 million in February FY25, up from $79.26 million in February FY24.
The overall export performance of the country showed an increase, with total export earnings reaching $32.94 billion, reflecting a growth of nearly 11% compared to the previous year’s $29.80 billion in the same period.
Leather and leather goods exports saw steady growth throughout the fiscal year. Despite fluctuations in other sectors, leather exports remained resilient, contributing significantly to the country’s total export earnings.
