CAIRO – March 11, 2024: Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir, disclosed a significant upsurge in Egypt’s overall merchandise exports during January and February 2024. The total exports reached $6.12 billion, marking a notable 6 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
Minister Samir’s announcement was grounded on the latest report furnished by the General Authority for Export and Import Control, outlining the rates of Egyptian merchandise exports during January and February 2024.
CAIRO – March 10, 2024: The report underscored the primary markets that absorbed Egyptian exports throughout this duration. Turkey emerged as the top importer, receiving goods valued at $551 million, followed closely by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at $511 million. Italy secured the third position with imports worth $395 million, while Libya and the United States of America imported goods worth $337 million and $315 million, respectively.
Focusing solely on leather, shoes, and leather products, they contributed a noteworthy $27 million to Egypt’s export revenue in the first two months of 2024.
This surge in Egypt’s leather exports presents a promising trajectory for the country’s economy, underscoring the significance of the leather industry in bolstering its trade relations and fostering economic growth.
