Leather Naturally has announced new changes to its Supervisory Council. Thomas Yu and Arnaud Backbier have joined the Council, while James Lang has been elected for his third and final term as Chair.
The Supervisory Council helps guide Leather Naturally by overseeing the Management Board, which runs daily operations. The Council includes five experts from the global leather industry and acts in an advisory role.
Thomas Yu joins the Council for his first term. He replaces David Peters. Thomas has over 25 years of experience in the leather industry.
He is the General Manager of Jollity Enterprise in Taiwan and has been the President of the Taiwan International Leather Association since 2021. He also served as President of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies.
Arnaud Backbier also joins the Council for the first time, replacing Chad Jensen. Arnaud is a business leader with more than 20 years of experience in sectors like chemicals, leather, life sciences, and the circular economy.
He has worked in commercial leadership, mergers, and governance. He was most recently the Global Commercial Director at Royal Smit & Zoon.
James Lang continues as Chair for one last term. He is a sixth-generation leather manufacturer and director at Scottish Leather Group Limited.
James has worked in various senior roles at the Group since 1978 and is now a non-executive director. He also serves as Chair of Leather UK and leads a charity called Providing for People in Paisley. He is a Court Assistant at the Worshipful Company of Leathersellers in London.
