A major fire erupted at the Sanjay Leather Company factory in Mughal Majra village, Kunjpura in Haryana after a machine overheated. Leather stocked quickly caught fire, filling the area with thick smoke as workers rushed out to safety.
The blaze destroyed materials and machinery kept inside the factory. Six fire tenders from Karnal were deployed and brought the fire under control after nearly three and a half hours. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
According to workers, the fire started around 10 a.m. They immediately called 112 to alert the police and fire department. District Deputy Fire Officer Randeep said his team reached the site by 10:30 a.m. and managed to douse the flames by 1:30 p.m.
Around ten employees were working in the factory when the fire broke out.
According to Karnal Breaking News the factory had a valid fire safety NOC and installed firefighting systems, the staff could not operate them effectively due to lack of training, allowing the fire to spread rapidly.
By the time the fire department managed to control the blaze, the factory had already suffered extensive damage.
