Stahl Reopens Its Advanced Coatings Facility in Ranipet

On 15 October 2025 Stahl a global leader in speciality coatings has reopened its advanced coatings facility in Ranipet, India.

Originally inaugurated in April 2000, the Ranipet site remained active until 2019 before being temporarily closed. Now, after Stahl’s decision to divest its wet-end activities, the facility is back in operation with a renewed focus on leather finishing, performance coatings and packaging coatings.

The upgraded facility now houses production, R&D and application testing under one roof. This integration will help Stahl accelerate product development, strengthen customer partnerships and adapt quickly to evolving market needs.

The company also plans to further expand its manufacturing and innovation capabilities in Ranipet based on market opportunities.

India’s strong industrial base make it a key market for Stahl across all its business segments. By reopening the Ranipet facility, Stahl strengthens its “local for global” business model, enabling faster response times and closer collaboration with both regional and international customers.

“The reopening of our Ranipet site is an important milestone in Stahl’s transformation journey, this investment reflects our strategic focus and aligns our capabilities with future market demands. Being able to produce locally in India an essential growth market strengthens our position and enables us to better support our customers with tailored, innovative solutions.”

Maarten Heijbroek, CEO, Stahl

Equipped with advanced automation and the latest environmental technologies, the modernized Ranipet plant meets all environmental and safety regulations.

Its state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system recycles all process water, ensuring zero liquid discharge and making it one of the most sustainable facilities in the coatings industry.

“Ranipet has always been a special place for Stahl and its reopening is both a homecoming and a new beginning, our dedicated professionals have the expertise and passion to drive customer success both in India and worldwide.”

Ranganath BV, Managing Director – India & Bangladesh, Stahl

With around 140 employees, many of whom have been part of the company since the early 2000s, the reopening feels like both a reunion and a fresh start.
