After more than two decades of dedicated service, Dr. Luis A. Zugno has announced his retirement from Buckman.

He described his time in the leather industry as a journey filled with purpose and passion rather than mere work.
Over the years, he worked closely with teams and clients in both remote and advanced tanneries across the globe. He embraced diverse cultures, cuisines, and traditions, and contributed to product development and innovation within the leather sector.
His achievements also include co-authoring a book, presenting papers at international conferences, and holding prominent leadership roles such as President and Executive Secretary of IULTCS.
He has been an active contributor to Leather Naturally, first as a board member and later as Chair, playing a key role in promoting responsible and sustainable leather practices worldwide.
As he steps into retirement, Dr. Zugno expressed his deep appreciation for the trust and partnerships built over the years, emphasizing that collaboration has been central to advancing leathermaking as both a craft and a science.
While this chapter comes to a close, Dr. Zugno shared that his story in leather continues. He plans to keep sharing knowledge, exploring innovation, and contributing to the global leather community in new ways.
