Holmes stressed that education science publications communication and promotion of the leather industry remain the backbone of IULTCS.

He said active national participation is what keeps the global body relevant and credible.

He also thanked the outgoing President Dr Joan Carles Castell for his leadership and long term impact. Castell’s work with ISO and CEN leather standardisation was highlighted as a key contribution that will shape the industry for years.

“IULTCS must be a place where ideas can be discussed openly even when they challenge conventions and always with scientific integrity.”
