French leather goods exports continued to lose momentum during the first ten months of 2025 reflecting softer demand across global markets.
Fresh trade data from the French leather industry association Alliance France Cuir show total leather goods exports at €10.31 billion euro from January to October 2025. This compares with €10.71 billion euro during the same period in 2024 marking a decline of 4%.
The total leather goods exports which include handbags, small leather goods and watch straps reached €9.18 billion euro during the first nine months of 2025. This means exports worth €1.13 billion euro were recorded in the tenth month alone from this category.
Handbags remained the largest contributor within the category. Exports stood at €7.29 billion euro from January to October 2025 compared to €7.69 billion euro a year earlier showing a drop of 5%.
Small leather goods saw the steepest fall. Exports declined to €880.5 million euro from €996.1 million euro during the same period last year translating into a sharp 12% contraction.
