MUNO Makes India Debut at IILF and Opens 2 New Labs in Kolkata and Kanpur

MUNO has officially entered the Indian leather market, making its first appearance at the 39th India International Leather Fair (IILF) 2026 after separating from Stahl and becoming an independent company starting in January 2026. The company used the event as a launchpad to introduce its solutions and connect directly with Indian customers and partners.

According to the company the debut created strong buzz at the fair. Industry stakeholders engaged in technical and commercial discussions with the MUNO team. The participation clearly signalled the company’s long term plans for India.

“India is a strategic market for MUNO not only for its scale but for the quality and ambition of its leather industry. Our participation at IILF combined with the opening of application laboratories in Kolkata & Kanpur reflects a clear choice to be present operational and accountable in the market. We are investing in local infrastructure and expertise to support our customers with practical solutions and long term commitment”

Xavier Rafols, CEO, MUNO

As part of its expansion MUNO opened a new application laboratory in Kolkata. The facility will serve as a permanent technical base offering application, development and customer support. The lab was inaugurated by Ramesh Kumar Juneja, Chairman, Council for Leather Exports (CLE)

A second laboratory was launched in Banthar, Kanpur, within the Kanpur leather cluster. The inauguration saw participation from Rajendra Jalan, Mukhtarul Amin and Asad K Iraqi along with company representatives and local stakeholders.

India remains a key focus for MUNO supported by the country’s strong manufacturing ecosystem and growing global importance. With laboratories now in East and North India along with its production plant in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, the company is building a deeper operational presence.

These investments show MUNO’s intent to work closely with Indian tanneries and manufacturers while supporting innovation, efficiency and sustainable growth in the sector.
