The provincial government of La Rioja in Argentina has taken a step in its ongoing dispute with Curtume CBR S.A tannery.
Authorities have issued an official notice declaring the takeover of the company’s vehicles and industrial machinery located in Chilecito region.
The move means the State will assume control of trucks, equipment and heavy machinery previously owned by the tannery.
Officials say the objective is to reactivate production and prevent the shutdown of operations in the region.
The decree lists 48 assets, including tannery machinery, forklifts, loaders, tractors, pickup vehicles and multiple heavy trucks from Scania and Mercedes-Benz.
Curtume CBR S.A. and any parties claiming rights over the assets have been given 10 working days to respond before authorities proceed with formal possession.
The Chilecito facility has been at the centre of labour and financial tensions for years making this action part of a broader crisis rather than an isolated decision.
For the La Rioja government led by Ricardo Quintela the argument is clear. These assets are seen as critical to protect jobs, sustain local industry and keep the production unit running.
The situation adds another chapter to Curtume CBR’s challenging operations in Argentina, where legal, economic and political pressures continue to shape the company’s future.
