Sri Lanka’s largest footwear and leather trade exhibition is underway in Colombo, bringing together more than 150 companies across 284 booths at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, better known as BMICH, from February 27 to March 2, 2026.
The 16th edition of the Footwear and Leather Fair features 284 booths, up from previous years, with participation from small, medium and large-scale manufacturers.
Of those, 28 booths represent international traders from India and China, signaling growing cross-border interest in Sri Lanka’s leather sector. The fair runs four days and is open to both trade buyers and the general public.
The event is jointly organized by four bodies, the Export Development Board (EDB), the Industrial Development Board (IDB), the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, and the Sri Lanka Footwear and Leather Goods Manufacturers Association (SLFLPMA).
These are government and industry groups that work together to grow Sri Lanka’s leather and footwear export sector. The fair was inaugurated by Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetthi.
For everyday consumers, the fair offers a rare chance to buy directly from local and international manufacturers at special discounted prices, cutting out the middleman entirely.
Sri Lanka has a long-standing footwear and leather manufacturing industry, and events like this serve as a key platform for local producers to connect with buyers, showcase new products and compete with cheaper imports.
The fair runs through March 2. Industry buyers and consumers can visit Hall A, B, C and D at BMICH in Colombo.
