LFMEAB Partners with VisionSpring to Provide Free Vision Screening for Leather Industry Workers in Bangladesh

International social enterprise VisionSpring has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) to implement the Clear Vision Workplace (CVW) Program across LFMEAB member factories in Bangladesh’s leather, leather goods and footwear industry.

The initiative is set to provide free vision screening and affordable spectacles to 5000 workers across 188 factories.

The CVW Program will provide structured vision screening, corrective eyeglasses, counselling, and eye-care awareness initiatives to workers in LFMEAB member factories.

By improving access to clear vision, the program aims to support: Higher productivity and efficiency in daily tasks, Improved product quality through sharper visual accuracy, Better workplace safety by reducing avoidable errors and strain and finally, stronger worker well-being through preventive eye-care practice.

At the signing ceremony, LFMEAB was represented by Ibnul Wara, Director and Managing Director of Austan Ltd.

VisionSpring was represented by Country Director Misha Mahjabeen.

Stakeholders involved in the initiative said improving workers’ eyesight can help them perform tasks more accurately and safely. This can also support the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s leather and footwear manufacturing industry.

The programme started on 28 February 2026 and will run until 31 December 2026. Eye screening activities have already begun at Austan Ltd’s factory as part of the first phase.
