The Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) has officially rebranded itself as the Footwear, Leathergoods & Accessories Exporters Association (FLAXA). The new identity was announced during the association’s 22nd Annual General Meeting held on 05 March 2026 at Hotel Renaissance in Gulshan, Dhaka.
The Bangladesh leather and footwear industry body said the rebranding reflects the growing role of footwear and leather accessories factories within the sector. By expanding its scope, FLAXA aims to bring more manufacturers under one platform and improve the industry’s ability to compete in global markets.
The AGM was presided over by Syed Nasim Manzur, President of FLAXA. The meeting was attended by the association’s vice presidents, directors and representatives from member factories across Bangladesh.
During the meeting, the president presented the annual report for FY 2024-2025. The report highlighted the global and national outlook of the leather and footwear sector, key initiatives taken by the association and an overview of its financial position.
The association also welcomed 19 new members during the meeting, further expanding its industry representation.
Bangladesh’s leather and footwear sector remains one of the country’s key export industries. The country is currently the world’s 7th largest footwear producer and ranks 15th globally in footwear exports.
With the new name and broader industry coverage, FLAXA aims to strengthen the domestic supply chain and support the continued growth of Bangladesh’s leather, footwear and accessories export sector.
