FGL International has acquired the finishing division of Repico Spa, a Lombardy based company active in the leather chemicals sector since 1948. The move will integrate Repico’s finishing business into FGL International’s product portfolio while allowing Repico to focus on its core wet-end operations. The development reflects yet another consolidation within the leather chemicals industry.
The finishing division of Repico will be integrated into FGL International’s existing product range as a new product line. The business will continue to maintain its commercial identity and existing customer portfolio while operating within the FGL International structure.
FGL International operates in the leather chemicals industry and is part of Lapi Group, which is headquartered in Santa Croce sull’Arno, one of Italy’s key leather tanning hubs.
“The main goal of this acquisition is to offer our customers even more comprehensive and innovative support, combining the know-how of both companies and enhancing the commercial offering, with a focus on innovation and sustainability.”

This acquisition marks another step in the company’s expansion strategy. In 2022, FGL International integrated the activities of Finikem, a company specializing in products for leather finishing and also part of Lapi Group.
Repico, headquartered in Cinisello Balsamo near Milan said the transaction forms part of its strategy to strengthen its specialization in wet-end chemistry, which remains the core focus of the company. After more than 70 years in the tanning chemicals sector, the company plans to concentrate its resources on research, development and innovation in this segment.
Repico added that particular attention will continue to be given to dyes, beamhouse and retanning products, which remain a key part of its offering to partner tanneries.
The acquisition reflects a broader push by chemical suppliers in the leather industry to strengthen product portfolios and improve technical support for tanneries as market competition continues to intensify.
