According to official data released by the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), China’s leather garment industry reported a 9.9% drop in sales revenue in 2025, while exports rose 3.3% to $130 Million and imports increased 2.9% to $120 Million in China.
The leather garment segment showed mixed performance during the year.
Sales revenue of key leather garment enterprises declined by 9.9% compared to last year.
At the same time, export activity improved slightly. China exported leather garments worth $130 Million, showing a growth of 3.3% year-on-year.
Imports also moved up during the same period. The country imported leather garments worth $120 Million, which is an increase of 2.9% compared to the previous year.
This indicates that while local companies are facing lower sales, international trade in leather garments is still seeing some growth.
The broader leather industry also saw a decline. China’s total exports of leather, footwear, leather garments, bags and cases fell to $82.72 billion, down 10.9%, while imports dropped 10.2% to $15.53 billion in 2025.
