The Leather and Hide Council of America (LHCA) has received $1.65 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) under the newly launched American First Trade Promotion Program (AFTPP). The funding will support LHCA’s efforts to diversify export destinations and expand the global market share of U.S. hides, skins and leather.
The investment aims to strengthen international demand for U.S. leather and hides, which are byproducts of the country’s cattle industry.
LHCA said increasing global demand for U.S. hides, skins and leather will support agricultural producers and workers across the United States.
The organization plans to use the funding to expand promotional activities in key international markets.
“We are extremely grateful for our partnership with USDA and their efforts to turn around the current agricultural trade deficit”
– Kerry Brozyna, President, LHCA
LHCA also praised USDA’s approach towards export promotion and joined the wider agricultural export community in supporting the initiative.
“AFTPP funding will allow us to scale up our promotional activities in key markets, ensuring that American hides and leather remain the premier choice for global manufacturers and consumers who value sustainability, quality and heritage.”
– Kerry Brozyna, President, LHCA
