Royal Smit & Zoon has announced the sudden passing of Joost Smit, the sixth generation owner of the company, at the age of 83. He passed away on Friday, June 19, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and long-term contribution to the organisation.

The company says Joost Smit played a key role in shaping Royal Smit & Zoon into the company it is today. He led the company with vision, dedication and strong commitment to its growth and development over several decades.

He served as CEO of Royal Smit & Zoon until 2006. After stepping down from the CEO role, he continued to stay closely involved with the company as a member of the Supervisory Board.
