Kazakhstan leather industry and related products industry recorded a 36% increase in production during January to May 2026 compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Construction.
According to the ministry, growth was recorded across several segments of the leather industry.
Production of travel accessories and saddlery increased by 47.6%, while footwear production rose by 39.9%.
Production of leather also increased by 27.3%.
Almaty region recorded the highest production during the first five months of 2026, with output worth T2.4 billion (~$5.01 million). The region accounted for 35% of the total production value of Kazakhstan’s leather industry.
Almaty ranked second with production worth T967.6 million (~$2 million), representing 13.7% of the industry’s total output.
Zhambyl region secured third place with production worth T776.8 million (~$1.62 million), accounting for 11% of the total industry output.
