Italian luxury leather manufacturer Masoni Industria Conciaria S.p.A. has acquired a minority stake in a Tuscan tannery Hashtag S.r.l., expanding its capabilities in premium split leathers while advancing its long term strategy to strengthen Italy’s luxury leather supply chain.

Founded in 2001 by Fabrizio Masoni, the Santa Croce sull’Arno based tannery has been backed by LVMH’s Métiers d’Art division since 2019. The investment in Hashtag marks the latest step in Masoni’s industrial development strategy, following its acquisition of a minority stake in Ulivieri & Nardi in 2022 and continued investments in manufacturing expansion and Industry 4.0 technologies.

Hashtag, founded in 2017 by Gianmarco Pinori and Lucio Verbeni, specialises in the production of premium suede splits and high quality leathers for footwear, leather goods and apparel. The company recently inaugurated a new production facility in Fucecchio and generated approximately €9 million in revenue in 2025, according to Italian media reports.

By combining Masoni’s expertise in premium calf leather with Hashtag’s high end split leathers, the company aims to broaden its product offering while strengthening its position as a supplier to international luxury brands.

The company added that the investment reflects a shared commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, uncompromising quality and Made in Italy manufacturing. It is also intended to reinforce the leather supply chain across Tuscany’s renowned tanning district by preserving local know-how, manufacturing heritage and entrepreneurial culture.

“Our objective is to collaborate with entrepreneurs and manufacturing companies that share our vision. This means producing exceptional leather, believing in the value of Made in Italy and working with expertise, quality and innovation.”

Masoni added that the company remains open to future partnerships with businesses that share the same values, with the goal of building a stronger and more competitive Italian leather supply chain through specialisation, quality and long-term industrial collaboration.

Commenting on the partnership, Hashtag founders Gianmarco Pinori and Lucio Verbeni said the investment would enhance the company’s credibility, increase its international visibility and support its future growth, according to La Conceria.

According to Milano Finanza, Masoni reported more than €45 million in revenue in 2025. The company operates advanced manufacturing facilities equipped with modern production technologies and certified supply chains, supplying premium calf leather for luxury bags, accessories, footwear and apparel to several leading fashion houses, including Berluti, Celine, Dior, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo, Yves Saint Laurent and Stefano Ricci.
