Turkish leather manufacturing group Iskefe Leather has transformed its operations from a traditional single factory manufacturing model into a specialised production ecosystem, creating dedicated manufacturing facilities for different leather categories to improve product consistency, manufacturing efficiency and operational flexibility.
Instead of producing every leather category within a single factory, Iskefe Leather has reorganised its operations into multiple specialised manufacturing units with each facility supported by its own production technologies, technical expertise, quality standards and carefully selected raw materials suited to specific leather applications.
Today, Iskefe’s leather production is organised across 4 specialised manufacturing facilities:
- Iskefe Basic – Focused on lightweight lining leathers and related leather articles.
- Iskefe Classic – Dedicated to medium-weight nappa leathers and related leather articles.
- Iskefe Colors – Specialised in suede leathers
- Iskefe Unique – Focused on producing heavy duty technical leathers for military footwear, safety footwear, firefighting boots and other applications requiring extensive testing, certification and performance validation.
Supporting these facilities is Iskefe’s Collagen Refinery, a central raw material sorting and allocation facility where every hide and skin is evaluated according to its quality and physical characteristics and then allocated directly to its most suitable application.
Raw hides and skins that are not suitable for leather production but meet food grade standards are then supplied to Halavet, Iskefe Holding’s gelatin and collagen business, where they are processed into food grade gelatin and collagen products.
According to the company, Halavet processes approximately 10,000 tonnes of raw hides and skins every month, enabling Iskefe to purchase raw materials at scale while maximising utilisation across both its leather and food grade production businesses.
The manufacturing ecosystem also includes Iskefe Blue Tannery, which specialises in the production and commercial supply of wet-blue leather for international markets.
Unlike conventional leather manufacturers that produce multiple leather categories within a single facility, Iskefe’s ecosystem assigns each product family to a dedicated manufacturing unit while coordinating raw materials, production capabilities and technical expertise across the organisation.
