French luxury group Groupe Lecuyer has acquired Moreau Paris, one of France’s oldest luxury leather goods brands, following approval from the Paris Commercial Court. The acquisition was completed through Cardinal Invest, the holding company that owns Groupe Lecuyer.
The deal concludes a court supervised international sale process launched in June after Moreau’s French holding company entered judicial restructuring. According to ASTEREN, which managed the process, the sale attracted strong interest from both strategic and financial investors from around the world.
Founded in 1882, Moreau Paris is one of the few historic Parisian monogram houses alongside Louis Vuitton, Goyard and Moynat. The brand was revived in the early 2010s before being acquired by Japanese luxury group Onward in 2016, which expanded its retail presence, including the opening of its flagship store in Paris.
Following Onward’s exit from its European operations in 2020, the brand came under new ownership that continued its international expansion.
Sales in Japan grew by more than 30% between 2022 and 2025. Today, Moreau Paris generates around €10 million in annual global retail sales through boutiques, department stores, franchise partners and online channels.
With the acquisition, Groupe Lécuyer plans to strengthen Moreau’s industrial capabilities, product development and international distribution while preserving the brand’s identity and craftsmanship.
The company said its French manufacturing expertise will complement Moreau’s established Italian production, bringing together Italian leather craftsmanship with French luxury manufacturing know-how.
