The French leather industry has launched Kesacuir an educational project aimed at raising awareness of leather among middle school students, teachers and other audiences.
Launched for the start of the 2026 school year the initiative provides ready to use teaching resources designed to help educators introduce leather related topics through interactive and practical activities.
Kesacuir offers a variety of resources, including texts, animations, videos and images to explore the history, uses and properties of leather, as well as the different professions within the industry. It also provides practical activities adapted to different learning levels.
The platform includes interactive learning modules and material kits featuring card decks and prototypes that students can create.
Kesacuir is a collaborative initiative involving the Campus des Metiers et des Qualifications Cuir Textiles Mode et Luxe de Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Federation Francaise des Cuirs et Peaux, the Federation Francaise de la Tannerie Megisserie, CTC and Alliance France Cuir.
The project received support from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional authority with teachers involved in developing the educational content. The Federation Francaise de la Maroquinerie, the Federation Francaise de la Chaussure and the Federation Francaise de la Ganterie also contributed to modules covering leatherworking and leather industry professions.
The resources are available for use in middle schools, high schools, higher education institutions, professional retraining programmes and public events.
