Bangladesh leather, leather products and leather footwear exports rose 35.6% year-on-year to $109.2 million in April 2026 from $80.5 million in April 2025 as the country’s overall product exports rebounded strongly, with total exports increasing nearly 32.9% year-on-year to $4.01 billion in April 2026, according to official data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
The leather and footwear industry also recorded strong month-on-month growth compared to March 2026, driven mainly by a sharp rise in leather footwear exports.
Overall, Bangladesh’s leather, leather products and leather footwear exports increased from $87.92 million in March 2026 to $109.24 million in April 2026, recording a 24.25% month-on-month growth.
Leather footwear exports reached $64.57 million in April 2026, up 31.2% compared to April 2025. The segment also jumped 52.5% over March 2026, when exports stood at $42.34 million.
Leather products exports totaled $33.64 million in April 2026, registering a 45.4% year-on-year increase. The category also grew 5.69% compared to March 2026 exports of $31.83 million.
Leather exports stood at $11.04 million in April 2026, rising 34.4% compared to April 2025. However, exports declined 19.7% from March 2026, when shipments reached $13.75 million.
Bangladesh’s other footwear exports under HS Code 64, excluding leather footwear under HS Code 6403, also increased 47.4% year-on-year to $46.49 million in April 2026 from $31.53 million in April 2025. Compared to March 2026, exports in the category rose 18.1% from $39.36 million.
